T3SC's AGM
T3SC held its Annual General meeting last week at Hyde Town Hall, and it proved to be a great occasion, with over 75 people present. The theme this year was ‘T3SC: Action and Impact’.
The meeting included the presentation of last year’s accounts, which show an increase in income into the organisation of approximately 25%. Last year, T3SC also managed to increase its reserves so that they are now the equivalent of approximately 3 ½ months running costs – prudent for any organisation.
The T3SC
Board
Under our governing documents, a third of the T3SC board stand down each year,
and are eligible for re-election. This year, the four trustees standing down
were Stuart Eyres, Pat Ousey, Stephen Young and Mohammed Masud. Stuart, Pat and
Stephen stood for re-election, and were voted back onto the board.
Mohamed Masud did not stand for re-election,
and we’d like to thank him for his service to T3SC as a board member over the
last three years. Two further Voice members stood for
election to the board, Hanif Malik and Amrit Mistry,
and we are delighted that the meeting also supported their election. The T3SC
board now has a full complement of trustees.
T3SC’s
achievements
Tony Okotie, Director at T3SC, highlighted some of the achievements of the
organisation over the last 12 months:
T3SC -
Action and Impact (Powerpoint)
-
The Support and Development team working with groups to secure nearly £500,000 of funding to deliver their activities and services. This is a third higher than the previous year.
-
The success of our E-Bulletin, and its role in getting information quickly to groups and stakeholders. We now have over 450 subscribers.
-
Supporting 24 Voice representatives to the Strategic partnership, and supporting seven thematic networks.
Future
objectives
Tony also laid out the objectives for T3SC in the current year, including
-
Developing Tameside LINk (Local Improvement network)
-
Further developing the commissioning project, helping organisations be better equipped to tender.
-
Investigating and developing our own social enterprise/ trading activities.
-
Reinvigorating Voice and networks.
T3SC’s
work in the third sector
The AGM then
heard from organisations themselves about the work that we had been undertaking:
-
Increasing the
local 3rd sector market - Liz Welsh, (Deputy Director at T3SC) and
Tim Wilde
(Commissioner, TMBC) -
Helping
Micklehurst get its fair share (Powerpoint)
- Stuart Vaughan (T3SC) and Frank Gittens (Micklehurst Estate Residents
Association) -
Partnership in practice – Karen Butigan (St Peters Partnership)
-
Communities reach their peak - Hakeel Qureshi (T3SC) and Jules Mambu (TARA)
The
future of Voice
Following a short break, participants undertook some group work to consider a
number of proposals about the future of Voice, and how it should be configured
going forward. The ideas and proposals build on the work at the Voice AGM
earlier in the summer. Feedback from the groups is now being collated, and will
be available shortly.
So, a really vibrant and interesting AGM, which was followed by a delicious lunch.

Tameside has a quality service
T3SC is formally recognised as a quality service.
T3SC are celebrating after receiving a
quality award from the national body – NAVCA (National
Association for Voluntary and Community Action). They are now in the
top 1% of the UK’s 350 CVS’ (Council for Voluntary Services).
What does the award mean?
The Quality Award demonstrates the impact the organisation has working
with local voluntary and community groups and communities in Tameside.
T3SC has been recognised for delivering quality and the standard will
be regularly assessed to ensure this standard is maintained.
Tony Okotie, Director of T3SC commented, ’This is a fantastic
achievement for the organisation and demonstrates the positive affect
we are having in Tameside’s voluntary and community sector. The staff
team have worked really hard to evidence the work that we do.’
T3SC have been working towards the award for the last few months and
were judged by an inspector who gathered evidence and interviewed
staff and stakeholders.
