Tameside LINk are running two identical discussion groups to talk about improving care and support. What you tell us will be fed back to the Government.

These will be held on:

At the AGMs, T3SC and VCT will be recommending to members that the two organisations combine forces under a new joint organisation, Community and Voluntary Action Tameside (CAVAT) and dissolve their current legal forms. Our Boards believe that this is the best and most sustainable way to provide quality support to volunteers, community and voluntary groups working for the benefit of people in the borough.

Each organisation currently offers a range of high quality services that complements the other. Collectively, under CAVAT, it will be easier for groups to access the support they need, and the sharing of resources will reduce duplication and cost, ensuring that more is available to spend on frontline services. A single strategy and strategic direction will help to ensure that the voice of volunteering and community and voluntary action are presented locally in a strong, coherent way and can be grown and developed further, but we will keep the individual names / brands that our members and stakeholders understand and interact with.

This event offers a great opportunity for existing social enterprises and organisations wishing to set up as social enterprises to:

• Network, sharing experiences and best practices
• Understand common forms and routes to becoming a social enterprise
• Learn what makes social enterprises truly different from other business forms using case studies

This one day workshop for local community groups will help you make a difference...

The aims of the workshop

Our aims are to support local groups to prepare for the practicalities, opportunities and challenges of the rights within the Localism Bill, and to support inclusion and equality in how the new rights are taken up, focusing in particular on the needs of communities who currently lack power.

The workshops will:

• Brief people on the details of all the new community rights.
• Discuss their practical implications for communities.
• Share experience of existing community action - successes and pitfalls.
• Support community groups and community activists to plan the first steps in taking action using the new rights.

Hot lunches available from 11.30am.

Proceeds from this event will be split 50/50 between British Heart Foundation and St James Church funds.

Sandwich lunch from 12.30pm.

This workshop will defend professional youth work. It is one of a series of workshops accross England.

We aim to use 'This is Youth Work: Stories from Practice', the book and DVD we published in October in collaboration with Unison and Unite and other youth organisations in order to fight the greatest threat to youth work in 60 years.

One North West’s event will bring together BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) groups, the wider voluntary sector and key decision makers to support the emergence of mainstream, progressive policy debate on migration in the UK parliament. This will then be presented to the Minister of Immigration so it is an excellent opportunity to have an influence.
