Tame Valley Scouts Model Railway and Transport Show
Saturday 12 April, 10am - 5pm and on Sunday 13 April, 10am
- 4pm, at Astley Sports College on Yew Tree Lane in Dukinfield

In 1983 the Scouts in Tame Valley thought they would have a
little model railway show and twenty five years later it is still
happening, but it is a much larger show held over two days.
Tom Lowther the District Commissioner
of Scouts said this event has got larger each year. This year's the
event will be hosting model railways, model transport, kit models and
this year Meccano models will be there. Some of these model railways are
so large you can't fit them in your front room and take years to build!
Outside will be vintage cars and trucks. There are some model
clubs you can join if you are interested in models and you can also join
a local Scout Group at the show. There are some fantastic displays on at
the show and are worth a look - like the real thing only
smaller. There are some projects that children can take part in to
build models.
Tickets can be bought on the day £3.00 adults £1.50 children and
concessions and family tickets are £7.00. Money from the show will help
Scouting in Tameside. If you require any further information about the
model railway show or joining Scouting in Tameside then contact Alan
Fish on the Scout Helpline 0161 330 0305.

The
Scouts annual St Georges Day parade

20 April 2008 outside the TSB Bank on Old Street, Ashton at
2.15pm
The parade is for all Scouts and ex Scouts to reaffirm their Beaver,
Cub, Scout, Explorer, Network and Leaders Promise's to Scouting and this
is done near St Georges Day as St George is the patron Saint to
Scouting. Approximately two hundred Scouts will assemble and then will
march with the Arnfield Brass Band past Ashton Market and up Albion Way
to Ashton Albion Church on Stamford Street for the 3.00pm service. This
years service will be different as all the scouts have been learning
their promises in sign language, and they will all sign their promises
this year. Following the service the District commissioner Ken Marks
will be presenting various awards to members for their service to
Scouting including Medal of Merit, Bar to the Medal of Merit, Chief
Scout good conduct medal and many long service awards.
If anyone is interested in joining as a Scout or a leader then contact Alan
Fish at the Scouts Helpline 01613300305.
